Margie Abbott’s dummy spit

So Mrs Abbott – “Margie” – you seem to be a tad upset at the so-called “personal” attacks on your husband?

Well boo bloody boo hoo.  Bring out the teeny weeny violins.

For the past two years, Labor and swinging voters (and no doubt many soft “L” Liberals) both women and men, have had to put up with the relentless, nasty, vicious and very ugly attacks on our Prime Minister that your husband has ignited and angrily fanned because of his petulant, spoilt brat, right to rule dummy spit he has raged ferociously with since 2010 because the Independents didn’t give him the nod to be PM.

Ever since your husband failed to convince the Independents he would be a man of his word, a decent Prime Minister and that he would be prepared to do everything they wanted (except of course ‘selling his arse”), he has set about wrecking the place, with his constant negativity, talking down the economy, his “No” “No” “No” to every forward thinking policy Labor has implemented – and have been passed regardless of your husbands tantrums.

You, like us, must have seen him proudly stand in front of the ugliest, most brutal placards ever displayed about any Prime Minister. As a fellow woman surely you must have been disgusted. Then again Browyn Bishop and Sophie Mirabella weren’t so maybe it’s a Liberal thing that you weren’t either? Anyway, I digress.  Regardless, did we hear you publicly decry his stance in support of those placards? No, “Margie”, we didn’t. If you privately berated him – we’d like to know – as until such times as you tell us whether you did or not – we can only assume the obvious – that you must have wholeheartedly agreed with and supported his actions just as Bishop and Mirabella did.

I am sure if he ever does get to be PM (which I very much doubt) – he will only bring his extreme right Catholicism down on every woman in this country. And that’s a very frightening thought.

Your husband, along with his bunch of feral shadow ministers and many on his backbench, have turned the political discourse in this country into the obnoxious, wretched, ugliness it is today.

Are you proud of him? I’m sure you are. You must be, because you have now come out and said what a wonderful, loving, decent man he is! To say that – you must agree with everything he says and does! Otherwise you would have the courage to say there are some things you don’t agree with him on.

 But no.

You just heap praise on him as if he can do no wrong.

 Quite frankly it disgusts me.

If he were my husband (not that he ever would be – perish the thought!) I would most certainly tell him when he has gone to far. As a woman I wouldn’t tolerate my man degrading any woman, let alone the Prime Minister.

But then, I’m not subservient (not that I’m saying you are) to any man and I will put them in their place if I think they have over stepped the mark with grubby comments. But that’s just me. (…and no doubt millions of other Australian women)

Obviously, you don’t have that fortitude. If you do, I’d like to hear it.

 Honestly! I would.

Your husband thinks nothing of degrading not only the Office of the Prime Minister but the Prime Minister herself.

He just can’t handle a woman getting the better of him can he?

His vicious verbal attacks on the PM and physical attacks on women like Barbara Ramjin prove it – he hasn’t changed in all these years no matter how hard you try to convince us.

He may love you and the girls and his mother – and Peta Credlin – but that’s where his affinity with women ends.

So get over yourself Margie Abbott.

 Suck it up princess!

Your husband is one of the most vicious Opposition leaders in this countries history, and as he would say “Its just politics!”

It’s about time the decent women and men of this nation fought back against your husbands’ ugly persona.

If you cant take the heat get out of the kitchen!

If Tony will let you that is.

I would just like to say..Margie And Tony, should “suck it up”.. Abbott and his “kind” have been abusive to our PM, thinking it’s okay to be rude, rant, yell, call her a after day for + side of two years.Karma is alive and well Mr. and Mrs Abbott!

Excellent letter – how on earth does Margie seriously think her praising her hubby NOW (with stupid things like he unpacks the dishwasher) will make any difference to the opinion we all have formed over many years? He’s that leopard!! He keeps pulling these tricks out of his magic bag in an attempt to make out we’re idiots and can’t see through it all…your ‘family show’ was just like watching a tv soapie with a script and actors faking reality! It’s just as funny as when your Mr Perfect said he read the BHP report with Joe Hockey the day before at PRECISELY 3.45 pm – a stupid ‘teenage’ trick from way back! Mr Abbott must spend an awful lot of tim at the confessional! Oh dear – he didn’t LIE did he Maggie?

Well said. I loathe this toxic atmosphere that Abbot creates.

They attack the Prime Minster because she is a woman, and they attack the woman because she is the Prime Minister.

I could not have said it better myself. That was the most ridiculous display of subservience I’ve ever witnessed. Or rose-coloured glasses perhaps, but Margie definitely does not live in the real world. She seems to have no idea that women just do NOT like him.

I’ve been posting various versions of the violent and sexist speech of COALition pollies [and a senior party official] around the blogs.
Just the pollies, not others including the media.
My point is that it is endemic to the conservative side of politics [although Latham and Ellis have contributed] and that Jones’ recent outburst is mirrored by politicians on the right.
    Change is needed.

Here is the incomplete list [I keep discovering more]

    – “Mr. Abbott observed: “Gillard won’t lie down and die ….”
    – Tony Abbott” Julia Gillard has a “target on her forehead”.
    – Mr. Abbott : “Are you suggesting to me that when it comes from Julia, ‘No’ doesn’t mean ‘No’?”
-Joe Hockey “Wayne Swan is to surpluses what Paris Hilton is to celibacy”.
-Bill Heffernan [re the PM] “I mean anyone who chooses to remain deliberately barren …”
    – Penny Wong has reacted angrily after Coalition Senator David Bushby ”meowed” at her in a committee hearing today…[from the ABC website]
    – Nats senator Ron Boswell “2 mothers or 2 fathers can’t raise a child properly. Who takes the boy to football? Who tells him what’s right from wrong? What does he do? Go along with mum, or 2 mums? How does he go camping or fishing? It won’t work, it’s defying nature!”
    – John Howard’s former chief of staff, Grahame Morris said about Julia Gillard that Australians “ought to be kicking her to death”.
    – . . former deputy federal director of the Liberal Party Grahame Morris said “Leigh Sales can be a bit of a cow sometimes when she does interviews”.
-Tony Abbott : that Gillard ”make an honest woman of herself”
    – Convoy of No Confidence with the famous photos of 3 Liberal MPs including Mirabella, Bishop the elder and LOTO Tony Abbott, in front of signs –“Ditch the witch” –“ Bob Brown’s bitch”.
    – Sophie Mirabella has been known to call out, “Here comes the weather girl”
-Hit squad: Tony Abbott’s backbench has branded Labor women “handbag” assassins for their attacks on their leader’s allegedly brutish behaviour to women [“The Australian” National Times]
-The club [Sydney University Liberal Club] tweeted the next day: “Brilliant speech by Alan Jones last night. It’s no wonder he’s the nation’s most influential broadcaster [The Age]
-The impeccably dressed Bishop smiles awkwardly as Abbott throws an arm around her shoulders, squeezes a few times, and tells the media mob before them, “She’s a loyal girl”. [SMH Dec ’09]

    Well said.
“Margie” has now “entered the game”. But watch the support crew go ape at the first criticism of her.
The double standard on display with this is stunning, right down to their appropriation of the “Real” Tony, a line they ripped Gillard apart for using.

Congrats on a great and timely post Deni.

The sudden appearance by “Margie” won’t have any effect whatsoever on the thinking woman’s vote. If thinking (or otherwise) women can see through Abbott, then they can undoubtedly see through this latest “stunt”.

    Bravo Denise,

I am tired of watching Abbott and his cronies degrading the Prime Minister, and most of the media finding excuses for him. The sight of him on ‘Today’ sitting slightly behind “Margie” with that vacuous grin on his face – like a naughty schoolboy letting ‘Mummy’ try and defend him – filled me with disgust. Compared to Julia he is a wimp.

I’m not sure whether Tony has a problem with women specifically (although women have a problem with him). From my perspective he’s an arrogant bully who can’t play nicely with anyone who stands between him and his ultimate goal. In footy terms – he plays the man (or woman) rather than the ball. The only way he knows how to play is to crash and tackle violently and it is this simmering anger and volatility that I sense and react to. I’m happy to believe that when he’s at home in his cosy little nest, with no-one to deny him, he probably is a cute fuzzy bear.

Love your work, brilliant summation of this total charade, that will only be sucked up by Abbotts mates, the Torys and those who think their poo poo doesn’t stink. Copy should be sent to marg and her girls, there will be a hellava lot in there they will quietly agree with. What really amazes me is the sheer hypocrisy of the woman, her old man is never home, he spends most of his time in the company of his COS Credlin!!!!!!! Who is I understand pregnant .

        Oct 07, 2012 @ 12:55:57

Unfortunately a ‘sewing circle’ can be a postive grouping and I know of sewing circles where Bishop and co. would be most unwelcome – except perhaps in the hope they may receive a much needed education..
I know a ‘sewing circle’ that recently produced, as a collabrative effort, a quilt commemorating violence against women.
It is currently hanging in Federal Parliament.
Here is a site that gives background.
“This is a national project engaging women and supporters in the community to work together in the creation of a Remembrance Quilt to honor and remember the women and children who have been killed in domestic violence in their community, in their state.”

The latest Newspoll seems to show that ‘Magic’ Margie and ‘Loving’ Tony, together with the help of News Limited’s media saturation, have managed to fool some of the public. I was hoping for better results, and wonder if there had been Poll taken during the previous week that was negative towards the Liberals, which as some people are suggesting was consigned to the waste basket. Let’s hope Margie’s intervention was a one trick wonder, and can’t be used effectively too often.
This morning I watched Julia (ABC24) giving a damn good speech at the ‘Breakfast of Powerful Women’, where she was witty and upbeat without mentioning recent events; such a contrast to Tony, who always has to weave biased negativity into everything he says in front of a microphone with no regard to the ambience of the occasion.

  36. denniallen
    Oct 09, 2012 @ 12:19:25

Hi Joanne….Newspoll = The Australian…I never believe any poll they do…always blatantly biased toward the rad cons…Julia is showing so much class and dignity – Mirabella this morning calling for Julia/Labor to dump Slipper…this from the woman who proudly stood in front of the most despicable, degrading placards ever about a PM ….
